ReplyDeleteMassimo Zangari I like your comment on persuasive writing. I like how you mentioned that it can be used in positive and negative forms. I agree when you say that it is used in advertisements and commercials for these are the most obvious places to see this form of writing. Good Job
ReplyDeleteGianmarco D’Astoli I like how you mentioned how persuasive writing can convince us to do things, which is very true. I also like the fact that you mentioned on how it will affect or decisions we make. I agree with you 100 percent when you said that persuasive writing is in TV commercials and is also created by people. Great job
Gianmarco D'Astoli I agree with your initial thoughts on persuasive writing. I agree that it can persuade us to do good or bad things, but that it is our decision to partake in this or to be influenced by it. I also agree that a form of persuasive writing can be someone talking to you who is trying to convince you to do something.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Durante I agree that persuasive writing is a form of writing that is trying to convince us to do something and that it can be good or bad. I also agree that it can make us look at things a different way. I also agree that we can decide if persuasive writing is good or bad.
Ashley Vincenzi, I really liked your blog about persuasive writing. I found it very informative and clear. I noticed that other people had said they thought persuasive writing could be both good and bad, but I wasn’t really sure as to why they said this. After I read your blog, it made more sense. I never really considered how much persuasive writing supports flawed ideas. I also know what you mean about getting confused with which point your truly arguing. Good job.
ReplyDeleteJessica Noftle, I enjoyed your blog on persuasion. I agree that persuasion can be very manipulating and pressuring. It is up to us to be able to determine the good from the bad because, it's true that persuasion is everywhere. No one wants to be told their wrong. I think your blog could have been better if you talked a little more about the positive forms of persuasive writing. This writing style does contribute to society in good ways as well. Good job.
Francesca Del Bove I really enjoyed reading your initital thoughts on persuassive writintg. I like how you metioned that it can be found on commercials, advertisements, buildboards etc. But what really got my attention was when you related persuassive writing to the elections, and how the candidates persuade us to vote for them. I agree with everything that you said keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Durante i really liked how you mentioned that persuassive writing can be good and bad. i liked how you used examples to illustrate this. we can be encouraged to change our body image, or commit a crime and we can be encouraged to help others. i like how you said it is our job to decide whether persuassive writing can be used for better or for worse indeed this is very true. i agree with everything you said excellent job.
ReplyDeleteGianluca Corvinelli, I thought your ideas on persuasive writing were very intriguing. In specific, the part where you say that the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear persuasion is that it’s a trick. I find this point particularly interesting because it is something that a lot of people, including myself do not really realise when they view or read some sort of persuasive writing. If a product really is good, it generally doesn’t need to be advertised, but rather the way the product performs will speak for itself, such as the hockey stick, in your case. Like you said although there were probably better hockey sticks in the store, since you saw the persuasive writing in the form of the commercial for one particular hockey stick, you were “tricked” into only considering that particular stick. I also agree with you, that not all persuasive writing is negative that it can also be positive.
ReplyDeleteChristian Signorile, your initial thoughts on persuasive writing were very informative. I found the use of the military example to be especially interesting. The fact that persuasive writing and even persuasion in general, has no limits, it can go to any extent and come from just about anywhere with just about any target audience is definitely not something to be over looked. As you eluded to persuasive writing is everywhere and is also fine tuned to specifically appeal to one particular type of consumer. When they run military recruiting commercials during teenage oriented programming to attract young men and women, a fairly suggestible group, to the armed forces, they are ultimately refining their target audience to a particular and vulnerable group of people. I also agree with you in the sense that persuasion only displays the positives of “buying products, doing certain tasks, and acting a certain way,” that it is an extremely one sided and biased opinion on a certain issue. At the end of the day all that matters for these companies and even governments are bottom line results.

ReplyDeleteNick Agostino, I enjoyed your paragraph on persuasion. I noticed you used a personal example of what you would find persuasive, the dealership reviews on their car, which I found interesting. I also liked how you gave links to examples of persuasion.
ReplyDeleteSabrina Nandy, your paragraph on persuasion was very intriguing. Your introduction was what really intrigued me to read more. The word "essentially" gave me the impression that it was just the beginning and made me want to read more. I also liked the examples you used which were "to motivate the audience to not only agree, but to do something, take action, buy a product, and join the revolution". The reason I liked these examples is because they are extremely varied, which gave me the sense there were many more in between that i probably see everyday.
To James Ruiz. I agree with your point that persuasive writing can be good because it allows you to make a decision between two products. "I think that persuasive writing is good because if someone is stuck between two opinions, it will help you lean more to your final decision". November 8, 2010. But that final decision also could lead to a horrible mistake. Persuasive writing is also like peer pressure. It can make us think we can not live without the product, when we don't really need it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteTo Nick Agostino. I agree with your point that persuasive writing challenges the reader to question his/her initial thoughts. "I see persuasive writting as a type of writting that targets the readers thoughts and challenges the reader to question his/her intial thoughts" November 2, 2010. This has happend to me many times. Where i was stuck thinking and questioning myself if i really needed this product just because the ad on t.v was really interesting. I also enjoyed the links you have posted. Joe Dioguardi was a really persuasive man and i probably would have voted for him too.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Adragna: I agree with your comment on persuasive writing completely. Persuasive writing DOES present an opinion in which leads the person toward a decision. I like your last sentence where you said "I believe it is effective but we must also recognize it for what it is" because persuasion can also lead to bad things as well as good things. When we are making a decision we have to consider what we are really doing in order to make the right one.
ReplyDeleteJulia DiGiammatteo: I agree with your opinion on persuasive writing. Your point of view of what persuasive writing is; is very similar to mine. I also agree on what the main forms of persuasive writing are. I liked in your example when you said that it would convince people to buy a book based on the book review. It can make someone change their mind very easily but it’s not always for the best.
Matthew Lancia: I liked that you said it is biased on how there is no right or wrong answer. You even gave an example from the bible of the story “Garden of Eden”. This supports your answer perfectly because the story matches perfectly with your statements. You made your thoughts on persuasive writing extremely easy to understand.
ReplyDeleteJames Ruiz: I agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. I also believe that it can be helpful when people are stuck between two options that they don’t know what to decide on. I also like the fact that you say the most common types of persuasion are found on television, and that you gave two examples on how you support your thoughts. I also think that persuasion is most commonly found with advertising, so I strongly agree with all of your thoughts.
Alessia Mastrorillo I really enjoyed reading your comment on persuasive writing. I believe your comment was very accurate when you stated that persuasive writing is in our everyday lives even when we our not expecting it to be. I believe your examples were in depth detail which you illustrated both positive and negative aspects very well. For instance when you gave the example of positive persuasion and you used a college called “Everest” as your example of engaging students to go to school I thought this was well thought and very well written. Also when you gave a negative aspect by giving a hotel review example I thought this was also very precise and I never really realized a hotel review as a form of persuasive writing until your post brought it to my attention.
ReplyDeleteStefanie Sgrignuoli I believe your persuasive writing post was very clear and informed readers that persuasive writing is a way to make readers change their way of thinking in benefit for the company or person endorsing a certain product. I also liked how you identified a bunch of different forms of persuasive writing such as commercials, billboards, newspaper/magazine article and slogans.
Jessica Noftle I like your comment on persuasive writing. I agree that they occur in all the different forms of media and how they try to manipulate teenagers into thinking that their product is better then the rest or influence how we live. You are 100% correct that we are faced with this in our daily lives and we can’t avoid it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteJames Ruiz I like agree with your comment specifically on how persuasive writing in advertising can help sway you to make a final decision. The part that I related to the most was your example on how some networks advertise their food products. They persuade you to buy their product because it has “half the fat of the leading brand”. Great job.
Gianmarco D’Astoli, I think that your initial thoughts on persuasive writing are relative to the theme of appearance vs reality. Your comment about persuasion being a “bad piece of writing” reminds me of how a piece of writing may seem convincing, such as statistics. In reality they can be slanted or altered to favour a specific argument. This also reminds me of the power point presentation. Its slanted statistics, as you said, encouraged us do think or do something to change.
ReplyDeleteTassiana, I agree with your ideas and thoughts on persuasive writing. Persuasive writing can be used in the smallest forms that attract the eye, such as a small slogan on a Trident pack of gum. Colours and slogans can be more important then the actual quality of the product because it draws attention and stays in our memory. We are convinced or persuaded to make our own choices, depending on which one appeals to us more.
Stefanie Sgrignuoli i completely agree with your first thoughts towards persuasive writing. I think that the statement you had made about persuasive writing changing the way one comes across a certain peice of writing and changes their initial thoughts towards it is very true. I also like the example you provided, about the cold beverage on a sunny day. That example can realate to everybody because they are all drawn into commercial advertisments, a key form of persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteJulien Lunardo i agree with your thoughts toward this particular form of writing. It does carry much debate around because it is the most common and most effective way of advertisement. I most cases it is used as an advertisement but it can also be used everyday in our discussions, it doesnt necessarily have to be in the form of an advertisement. But i do agree with your examples on where you are able to find this writing.
Jessica Noftle: I really enjoyed reading your blog. I like how you spoke about persuasion in the media. I think that it is the strongest and most noticeable form of persuasion. I totally agree with you when you say that everyday we are pressured into something or we see others in a pressure-like situation. In my opinion, I think your blog would have been better if you included an example on how teenagers are persuaded by the media. Overall, I strongly agree that we are always faced with persuasion. Great job Jessica.
ReplyDeleteAlessia Direito: I enjoyed reading your blog. I really liked your definition of persuasive writing. I definitately agree with you when you say that persuasive writing can persuade people in both positive and negative ways. I like how you included examples and I think the examples you gave for both positive and negative persuasion are great. Overall, I agree with everything you have to say about persuasive writing. Great job Alessia.
Alessia Direito: I agree with your comment about persuasive writing and how it is used to get the reader to agree with the topic and change their point of view. I also agree with your comment on how it can persuade people in a positive and negative way. Your comment gave me a better understanding about persuasive writing. Good job!
ReplyDeletePhilip Spagnolo: I found your comment about persuasive writing very interesting, persuasive writing can be viewed as a form of manipulation, as it is used to convince someone into believing a certain point of view. Your comparison between positive and negative affects of persuasion was very informative; I now have a different perspective on persuasive writing. Interesting point of view, good job!
Natalie Sturino, I enjoyed reading your comment about persuasive writing because you explained both the negative and positive aspects found in this genre of writing. I strongly agree with your explanations of how this writing can be positive and negative. Great examples of where persuasive writing is found in society. Well done.
ReplyDeleteGianmarco D’Astoli, excellent comment on persuasive writing. I agree with you that it is very important to be aware of what we could be persuaded into doing because it may often be something bad. Yes, I agree with you, persuasive writing can be found on paper, ads, TV, commercials, and people, but it can also be found all over the internet and in magazines. Great job.
Jessica Noftle I agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing because you stated that there are many forms of writing that influence teen on their way of living. You said that there are many things in everyday life that we are persuaded to do and can not be avoided. I strongly agree with the statement that you persuasion is always going to be around us in our everyday lives.
ReplyDeleteJulia Digiammatteo your thoughts on persuasive writing are very informative and well expressed from beginning to end. It shows your thoughts and whys that we are persuaded to liking or disliking a product. Also it is very well written and easy to read.
According to what Natalie Sturino comment, I found that it was very interesting and it addressed the main aspects of persuasive writing this was shown through your comparison between positive and negative affects of persuasion This was very informative, there was some really great points. You did an awesome job!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to what Alessia Direto comment, I found it was very informative because it points out the main things that people use persuasive writing to do on a daily basis. It also gave great examples of how persuasion can be used. This gave me a better understanding of persuasive writing. You did an awesome job!!
Stefanie Sgrignuoli, i agree with you that persuasive writing sends messages to all readers. Also that it benefits companies on their products. All your points were very accurate and you showed most of the main points in persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteJulia Digiammatteo, I also agree with the points you discussed. You stated that persuasive writing is used to catch the readers attention and make them want to buy the product. I believe that is exactly what persuasive writing is used for. You points were well put and very descriptive.
To Anthony Durante, i liked your post on persuasive writing because you mentioned how it can be good and bad. This is a good point because we need to be aware of the good and bad types of persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteJulian Cesario, i also liked your comment on persuasive writing when you said that companies can use it to persuade someone to stop using a product and buy theirs. This is true when companies compare their products and over exaggerate how much better theirs is.
Jessica Noftle, I found your connection to media and persuasion intriguing. I agree that the media has the biggest influence on teenage audiences. I enjoyed how you further developed your idea to say that this frequent medial persuasion can be both positive and negative. I also support your opinion that this type of persuasion is unavoidable in our everyday lives.
ReplyDeleteAshley Vincenzi, I found your examples of positive and negative persuasion accurate. Persuasion has a positive and negative aspect to it, and I agree that something positive can be interpreted negatively to someone, and vice versa. Finally, I strongly support your concluding statement. Due to the fact that persuasion comes in many forms, it can be interpreted in many different ways, depending on the person, their opinion and their bias.
Jessica Noftle, I agree with your view of persuasive writing because it is very realistic and to the point. When you said that it is the most common form of writing in our everyday life I completely agree with that because I have the same view as you on them. The statement you made about how we are unable to avoid these situations is also very true and a statement that I agree with. Overall I agree completely with your view on persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteStefanie Sgrignuoli, I also agree with your view of persuasive writing. The definition of persuasive writing you gave “persuasive writing is a way to make the readers change their way of thinking in order to benefit a products sale or a company making money” is in my opinion very accurate and similar to my view. Also I agree with what you said about where all the different forms of persuasive writing can be found. Overall I believe that both our views on persuasive writing are similar and I agree with your opinion.
Julian Cesario I agree with your idea’s of persuasive writing. Providing your analysis about persuasion with examples made your post both clear and informative. I also found it very interesting in how you made a thorough comparison of persuasion to peer pressure. Comparing various examples to persuasion adds extra emphasis as well as a better understanding of persuasion. Not only did your post give readers a great acknowledgment of what persuasive writing is, but it also gave readers a more understandable visualization on persuasive writing, and where it can be encountered.
ReplyDeleteTassiana Smith I found your post quite interesting to read. Providing readers with a personal example, opens the eyes of many people as they realize that day to day situations that occur do in fact involve persuasion, even if we do not recognize it. Your explanation of persuasion was both supported by personal examples, as well as many distinguished, and recognizable examples. Your definition of persuasion was clear and understandable, and allows readers to be able to distinguish persuasion in even its most basic forms.
Alessia Mastrorillo, I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on persuasion. I agree with what you said about persuasion being good or bad, depending on the person. I liked how you used the example of the "Everest" clips of people going to school. This and many other examples you mentioned, made it easier for me to understand your thoughts on persuasion. Your thoughts were very clear and easy to understand. Well done.
ReplyDeleteBrittany Pileggi, Your thoughts on persuasion were very well done. I like how you used the example of teenage girls trying to be like their favourite actress or model. I find that this is one of the most ways persuasion is used and you were able to notice this and include it in your thoughts. You showed how this type of persuasion can be very bad. I agree with what you said on persuasion and how it can change a person's opinion about something. Good job.

ReplyDeleteSophia I agree with your post about persuasion. Persuasion has a positive and negative aspect to it.Comparing various examples to persuasion adds emphasis as well as a better understanding of persuasion. Also I agree with what you said about where all the different forms of persuasive writing can be found.I totally agree with you when you say that everyday we are pressured into something.
ReplyDeleteGianmarco, I agree with your view of persuasive writing because it is very realistic and to the point.I also liked the examples you used which were to motivate the people to not only agree, but to do something. I also agree that it can make us look at things in different ways. I agree that we can decide if persuasive writing is good or bad.
Victor - "I believe that without persuasion writing, there would be no advertisements or any other types of media"
ReplyDeleteResponse:I strongly agree with this. Here is a prime example that proves this; a canadian red cross commercial. Although the red cross is a NGA, the commercials show children suffering in a third world country. However they tell you(the viewer) that the only way of helping is by donating to THEIR organization. If this was not a form of pursuasive advertisment then the commercial would have addressed other organizatiosn as well. Since this is the case we can evidently see that without pursuasive writting there would be no advertisments or media.
James Ruiz - "Persuasive writing can be very useful. I have seen it a lot and it comes in a lot of different forms. The most common form of persuasive writing that I have seen is in advertising. An example of this is television commercials. When you are watching a commercial, the company will try to make their product seem better than all of the other ones. If it is a food commercial, the commercial will say something like "half the fat of the leading brand", or if it is an insurance commercial I have heard them say " switch to Geico and save more money". I think that persuasive writing is good because if someone is stuck between two opinions, it will help you lean more to your final decision."
Response:I agree with what James is saying but I feel he must elabirate more on his idea. When stating how you see persuasive writting, provide examples. You only included commercials and advertisment related pieces. I also agree on your last point as to how persuasive writting will help someone come to a decision. This is espically seen when someone is buying a car. Most people narrow it down to about two cars that they like, usually their choice is impacted by which dealer persuaded them more. This shows the power that persuasive has on people and more importantly consumers.
Anthony Durante, I like how you mentioned that persuasive writing has both positive and negative sides. You gave great examples on both the good and the bad. You also discuss how involved the media is these days with persuasion itself. Overall, you really opened my eyes to the many perspectives persuasion has to offer, and you did a great job explaining some of the pros and cons this style of writing offers in a concise paragraph that many can easily see eye to eye with. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTassiana, I feel that we are not always influenced most by persuasion. Sometimes we are influenced or forced to make decisions by other forms, such as directing. Take Hitler, for example, he was successful in terrorizing many around the world by directing. People feared Hitler, everyone did what he told them to because he told them to. They weren't persuaded to do what he wanted, they were forced to follow orders. They couldn't be persuaded by Hitler to make decisions because the other decision was always death. But I still like how you demonstrated the various forms of writing the media tries to persuade us with these days. The points you presented reveal what we are greatly influenced by in our modern day society.
Jessica Noftle, I strongly agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. I believe that the media does influence teenagers a lot. When you wrote" it can be used to manipulate teenagers minds into thinking the media and their opinions are the correct way", it got me thinking. I started to wonder if I myself have begun to think the way the media tells me to. If you look around, people all over are trying to who the media tells you to be. You were correct when you said that the media has an influence on teenagers. Your post really got me thinking that maybe we are becoming to reliant on the media and what they say is right and wrong. Overall, your thoughts were described thoroughly and I agree with you 100%. GREAT JOB JESS!
ReplyDeleteNick Agostino,I thought that your thoughts on persuasion were great! I liked how you gave links for readers to go onto to understand persuasion and the different types of it. When you stated “it has the power to change the person’s thoughts completely”, you gave readers the chance to relate. It reminded me of times when I would change my mind about buying something because of an advertisement or because I saw a celebrity with a certain item. You also mentioned that the government also advertises when voting- I never really thought as it as persuasion but the way you explained it I realized that the government voting ads are a big form of persuasion. Your comment was very informative and it allowed me to think about how persuasion is in our daily lives. GOOD JOB NICK!
Christina Laronga, I really liked what you had to say about persuasive writing! I like how you explained it to be a way to "convince an audience into believing a certain point of view". I also really liked how you listed the pros and cons because it told me both sides and effects of persuasive writing. You also provided examples of persuasive writing which I found very helpful and helped me understand it a little better. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteJoshua Mujica, I agreed with what you had to say about persuasive writing and I really liked the way you defined persuasive writing. Although I didn't really learn a lot from your paragraph. You said "To be honest I think there can be a positive and a negative side to persuasive writing depending on the way you look at it." I think you should have supported this idea by stating of the pros and cons of persuasive writing. You also could have backed up your ideas with examples of where you can find persuasive writing.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. I also believe that persuasive writing is one of the most seen forms of writing. I liked how you showed advertisements as an examples as persuasive writing. Advertisements are the most seen types of media today. I also liked how you used the smoking commercials as an example as a negative aspect of persuasive writing. Great comment
Daniella Nanfara
I agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. I liked your example of a movie review and other people’s thoughts on how good the movie is according to the review. I also agree with what you said about advertisements being everywhere and how we would like or dislike a product. Great comment
Anthony Durante. I personally enjoy your thought of persuasive writing. I agree with everything you had to say, persuasive writing is indeed good but can also be bad a lot of times. I also liked when you mentioned that persuasive writing can make people look at things a different way. All the examples that were included in your paragraph made the reader understand what you were trying to say even more. This is why I enjoyed your thoughts about persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteBrittany Pileggi. I really enjoyed reading what your thoughts were about persuasive writing. I again agree with you that persuasive writing is both good and bad. In your list of examples, you had mentioned one that I would like to inform others about. I think it has the most impact on kids and adults lives in today’s society. The example that u have stated were movies. I find that through movies the media can make the rest of the world do whatever they please. Mostly kids do not realize a movie, is a movie not reality. When a child watch’s a movie that they do not understand or is not a type of movie for their age group, they will try to act out what they have seen and it will not be in a good way. This is a form of bad persuasive writing because it can lead to something as bad as violence. I strongly agree with Brittany, there is a lot of persuasion in movies and it isn’t always a good thing.
Gianmarco D'Astoli: i agree with your paragraph on persuasive writing. i liked how you showed examples of persuasive writing and how you were right to the point.i agree with you on that we can find persuasive writing on ads,and news papers. good job G
ReplyDeleteFrancesca Del Bove : i agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing much like what g did i agree with that persuasive writing can be found in ads and tv.i expecially liked when you related it to the elections it was easier to undrstand persuasive writing when you put it into that context. good job fran!!
Sabrina Nandy: I agree with what you said about persuasive writing. I think that a magazine is an amazing example of this type of writing. It does influence us on the way we look, dress and act. Seeing celebrities and reading things persuade us to do things that we might not feel comfortable doing. Your writing was interesting from the beginning to the end. When I started reading it, I wanted to continue because it was very interesting.
ReplyDeleteNick Agostino: I agree with what you said on persuasive writing. I thought that your post was very interesting. Including links into your post was an excellent way to show others what you are trying to say and prove that you were right. I liked the example that you gave about choosing a car. I found it very interesting and true.
Gianmarco D'astoli
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your comment about persuasive writing and how it encourages us to do something . I agree when you said that It is our decision whether or not we want to partake in this but if we do we must understand that we will be affected by it someway.I liked how you said how will it affect us.
Great job
Anthony durante
While I was reading your comment I really enjoyed the facts you put on persuasive writing.
I liked how you said It could help someone but aslo make them commit a crime.I totally agree with that persuasive writing is in posters, brochures, and magazines and help you understand something
Great comment
Anthony Durante clearly stated the same thoughts on persuasive writing like me. It is a form of writing that is used to convince people into something. It could either be good or bad and I totally agree with this point he made. I enjoyed reading your piece on persusaive writing because you had a lot of true points on this writing. You also gave me different ways on expressing persuasive writing, which was something I learned from reading your post. Lastly, I really agreed with your last point which said it is up to us to choose if the persuasive writing has a negative or positive influence on us. Good job.
ReplyDeleteSophia Simeone made some points on persuasive writing that intrigued me. One of the points I agreed with was when you said persuasive writing can be seen from both a positive and negative aspect. I like how you said persuasive writing could also be illustrated, which means its not only words that convinces us, but pictures do as well. Well done.
Tassiana Smith, I enjoyed the way she gave clear examples to your thoughts of persuation."The last thing I was persuaded to buy was Trident Gum, what influenced me to buy this was the packaging that said “sugar-free and long lasting”. Giving her own life experince into her paragraph made her opinion that much more persuasive. I agree with her opinon. Great job tassi!
ReplyDeleteJames Ruiz,I strongly agree with james points that he made in his paragraph. For one "Persuasive writing can be very useful. I have seen it a lot and it comes in a lot of different forms. The most common form of persuasive writing that I have seen is in advertising". In my opinon this is very true. I was expecting to see more of his opinion in the paragraph yet it was mostly examples but other then that good job james!
Nick Agostino i think you did a good job explaining persuasive writing and how its used. i also like your thoughts i thought they were really good. you used links to support how you felt and i thought that was a great way to show people how to understand persuasion. Your comment was very understanding and straight forward and it gave me more to think about on persuasive writing.
ReplyDeleteDaniella Nanfara i 100% agree about what you said about persuasive writing. i thought you did a very good job explaining and expressing how you felt about it. i also liked the example you used for the movie review it was a really good idea. i think you did a good job with this comment :)
Nick Agostino i agree with your explantation alot because you have gave very good points about persuasive writing and how it allows the readers mind to start thinking about different things when they see or read something. I also enjoyed that you gave many every good links underneath.
ReplyDeleteStefaine Sgrignuoli i also agree with you because your answer states that persuasive writing is a way to communicate a certain message to the person reading it and also how it makes the readers thoughts change threw out reading an ad or article. I think you do an amazing job talking about persuasive writing.
Victor - I agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. I especially agree with the part where you note that there would be no ads for marketing. It would be hard to reach consumers if the seller can not persuade the viewer into buying their product.
ReplyDeletePaolo Scarciolla - I agree with you that persuasion is indeed a great way of advertisement. However, you should have supported your thoughts more instead of just giving examples of persuasive writing.
Stefanie Sgrignuoli I completely agree with you on your thoughts on how persuasive writing is a way to make the readers change their way of thinking in order to benefit a company. Persuasive writing is an excellent way of persuading people for your benefit. I also agree on how you say persuasive writing will change your mind on the topic. Reading something does change your mind, you start thinking and questioning yourself. Stefanie I agreed with you about persuasive writing 100 percent.
ReplyDeleteAlessandra Tucci I also agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing. We all see persuasive writing in newspapers, magazines and television commercials because they are trying to persuade us to do something. I don’t agree on how you say we use persuasive writing without noticing. I believe that I would notice if I was persuading someone to do something because of the way you write. Other than that I agreed with everything you said.
Gianmarco D'Astoli, i agree with you on how it is both a good and bad piece of writing. I agree with your argument because in a way they are bribing you to want their product but also it is effective since they are acheiving their goal which is to sell their product. I feel that both your positive and negative aspect in your opinion was interesting and true, Goodjob.
ReplyDeleteStefanie Sgrignuoli, i agree with your thoughts on persuasive writing and how it is helpful and effective to companies in regards to their products. It is selling an idea to readers so they are intrigued and want to own the item. I agree with all of your points on this writting example and feel that you have done a good job.
Christina Laronga
ReplyDeleteI read your thoughts on persuasive writing and I agree that it can have both pros and cons. The media is interested in selling a product that doesn’t always benefit us. Although we think this is a good thing in reality it’s not. Like your example we have the responsibility and choice to accept and rely on this message or not. I thought your post was easy to read and to the point. Good job. =D
Sabrina Nandy
I have also read your thoughts on persuasive and thought it was very well written. I felt like you were, in a way, persuading us to agree with your point. I found it very interesting and insightful. I also agree that the media is the main resource of persuading people. Your post was very good. Good job. =D

ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with what you had to say about persuasive writing and i completly understood what you were saying when you said it comes in diffrent shapes, sizes and forms of writing and i like how you said it makes you think about adds or book covers to purswade you to buy the product, great work bud !
Julian Cesario,
ReplyDeletei agree with your comment on persuasive writing entirely. Persuasive writing is a way to convince someone to do something with words and that's what makes it so interesting. It can also change someones opinion because if you have enough valid points to go against something, one can eventually be persuaded or convinced. I also find it interesting that you linked persuasive writing to peer pressure because it's so true but I never took the time to think about it like that. Persuasive writing doesn't necessarily mean that your going to convince someone into doing something positive,it can also be negative. GREAT POINTS!!
Miguel,
ReplyDeleteI disagree with your comment only because I do not believe that persuasive writing is meant strictly for business and media only, I think that it has many other purposes. You are absolutely right in the sense that business and media both use persuasive writing though, quite often. Persuasive writing on adds and on TV commercials do often influence us to buy their products. You also mentioned how it can introduce us to a product that we actually need or sometimes don't need, but just want. Therefore it can be good and bad at the same time. Great points though :)
Anthony Durante:
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment you have posted on persuasive writing. The point you are trying to make about persuasive writing being good or bad is precisely what I think too. You also used the example of it being used for crime which, in reality, is true. Also, you listed the most common types of persuasive writing which is right on! I agree on the sentence that you stated it is used commonly in the media in today's society. Great post and I am in complete agreement with you.
Louis Conforti:
I am not in full agreement with your post on persuasive writing. I agree only to your opening sentence about it coming in all different shapes, sizes and forms. this is very true and is shown in our everyday lives when we go out on in the streets everyday seeing posters and other bulletins as you have mentioned. However, I completely disagree on your second point that persuasive writing is not common. Now a day, in todays society, persuasive writing is almost all you see around because it is the easiest to follow and many people enjoy reading it rather than sit down reading a newspaper for around a half hour. In general though, I mostly agree with your comment on your initial thoughts on persuasive writing.
