Topic: Adulthood
ReplyDeleteFormat: Rules
For my form of writing for my last journal I chose to use rules to instruct/direct my audience (Holden). This is because I feel that I am in contact with rules everyday sometimes without even know. The title of the rules for my journal was "Rules to becoming an Adult", I chose this topic because I noticed that in the book Catcher In The Rye. Holden struggles a lot with the idea of becoming an adult, because he feels that all adults are "phony". This makes him afraid to grow up, so I wrote a list of 21 rules that I think would help Holden to get over his fear of growing up. I formatted my rules numerically and in black paragraphs. I feel that rules are a very important form of writing and that is why I chose to use it as my way of instructing/directing.
Topic: How Holden's insecurities affect him
ReplyDeleteFormat: Explanations
I chose to do explanations because I thought that it was the best way for me to explain my topic to my audience. I made a questioin saying that i didn't understand how his insecurities affect him. Then I came up with an answer to my question explaining how Holden's actions and emotions are affected by his insecurities. I made my explanations into paragraphs. This was my form of writing that I chose to instruct/direct my topic.
Topic: Appearence Vs. Reality ( Holdens thoughts/ decisions in relation to his lifestyle)
ReplyDeleteFormat: Explanations
I chose explanations as the format becuase it lets my audience or readers develop their own opinion on my topic. When learning about literary text, it is easier for me to learn through different peoples opinions and perspectives on how they "see" the story. Not only can it help you learn about the meaning of the story but how you can make a connection to your own life with it. Explanations can also answer your questions about the novel and can give you more knowledge about the story itself.
I chose manuals for this assignment. The reason on why I chose a manual was because manuals are descriptive and can be used for a variety of things. I also encounter manuals on a daily basis, which is another reason on to why I chose it. I talked about survival in my manual for my assignment. I organized all my information in point form and block paragraphs making it easy to read. I discussed and described things that one needs in order to survive in the streets of New York. The manual made it easy for me to organize my ideas but was also clear and easy for the reader.
