  1. The forms of writing that instruct and direct influence me on a daily basis in good and bad ways. I can use them to my advantage or I could ignore them and be at a disadvantage. All of this could be seen through forms of writing such as recipes, rules, instructions, maps etc. These forms of writing instruct and direct. I can use a map to get me to my destination and that puts me at an advantage of getting there. If I know I can use a map but I choose not to than I will be at a disadvantage. I am influenced by these and more forms of writing and I can use them to my advantage or not.

  2. Forms of writing that instruct/direct influence me on a daily basis through my actions and what I think. For example, directions influence me on a daily basis. Directions on a GPS will influence me on what route I will take to school or a friend’s house. It will influence me because certain directions will tell me to turn left or right which in turn would affect my actions. Directions can also include street signs, which also influence me on a daily basis. For example signs that say no right turn or a stop sign will influence my actions especially driving. Recipes, also a great form of writing that instructs/directs will influence my thinking. Recipes give measurements and amounts of ingredients that I need to make something. These instructions will direct me on how to make and cook a certain thing. They will also make me think differently by giving me new ideas for the future in turn affecting my actions. It is clear that writing that instructs/directs influence me and others on a daily basis.

  3. The forms of writing that instruct and direct influence me on a daily basis can be used in postive or negative ways. For example a map will influence me where to go and how to get there the fastest way it could be used negatively becuase of the false information they put on it.A traffic light will instruct and direct me becuase of the colours that symbolize some one's actions which are to stop,go and even slow down. It could be used negatively if you do not follow the directions or instructions it is telling you to do. these things can be used to influence me on a daily basis.

  4. The forms of writing that instruct and direct have an impact on my daily basis because they are practically found anywhere and come with almost any purchased item. For example when you buy a new cell-phone, in the box it will have instructions on how to use the phone and how it works. These instructions are put with the product for new users of the product who have never used anything like the product before, or if they are just checking on how to properly use the product. These directions are very convenient for everyone with the product. However, not all instructions or directions have to come in list format; some of them just have a common phrase like “keep out of reach of children”, which can be found on Windex bottles. The company doesn’t list the dangers, it just states the directions, and in this case a warning , will obviously affect the viewers on how they use the product and will also make the users more careful when using the product around kids. These little directions/instructions make a difference in everybody’s life and therefore it influences us all.

  5. Writing that informs/ directs influences me on a daily basis because this form of writing is present in my life almost everyday. For instance I am faced with directions, instructions, road signs, recipes and maps a lot in my life and they all influence me to pursue the actions that these everyday routines are commanding me to follow. For instance you must stop at a stop sign because you know you must follow and obey the instructions that the sign is telling you to do. I also believe in school we are faced with many forms of writing that instruct or direct like for instance a specific assignment a teacher assigns that is required direction and informs the student to complete the task. I believe this form of writing influences me and others on a daily basis.

  6. Writing that informs/directs influences me on a daily basis because i encounter it everyday, throughout the day. For example, i am faced with street signs as i come to school and every-time i am on the road. I encounter them in recipes or if i follow instructions in my homework. I also encounter them in my home as warning or caution signs on toxic bottles. This type of writing is the most predominant in my life.

  7. Forms of writing that instruct and direct are the most influential form of writing I see everyday. I abide by forms of writing that instruct or direct all the time because rules are an example of this form of writing and wherever I am there are rules I have to follow. Sometimes they benefit me sometimes they irritate me, that’s life. For example, when I am at school and in class I have to raise my hand when I want to speak, at home I do not have to do that. This form of writing influences me in positive and negative ways during my daily life. Forms of writing such as instructions, recipes, explanations, and manuals; help us gain useful knowledge to help us in our everyday life. They can also be burden in some cases, for example: when I have to follow instructions to do like your parents instructing me to fix my bed, or leaving me to a note to pick up my little sister from school. It can also be useful in school when I don’t understand something, such as trigonometry, I can listen to the explanation in the lesson to help me understand.

  8. Forms of writing that instruct and direct are seen everywhere in our daily lives and used predominantly used to ensure social order. For example speed limit signs and other road signs instruct drivers to follow rules of the road. We also receive instructions from our teachers, rules for proper behaviour and safety; a simple outline to complete an assignment. Cooking recipes that illustrate the steps to follow to cook a particular meal and maps such as a GPS to give you directions to arrive at a certain destination. Writing that instructs and directs is the most common form of writing seen in our daily lives.

  9. The forms of writing that instruct and direct influence my daily life because without them we would not be alive. If there were no signs on the road there would be many accidents and alot of death. If there were no pieces of writing that directed and instructed us the right way of doing things we would be lost. In my daily life this writing is every where. In school there is writing that tells us what we have for homework or a schedual of what we will be doing today. When I am sick I have to read the instructions of the pills the doctors have given me to take them the right way and not overdose. There are instructions and directions for everything and without this we would be doing everything wrong so it is very influencial in my daily life.

  10. Forms of writing that instruct and directly influence me on a daily basis surround me at school. The directions if followed have a positive impact on me, for example when a teacher directs you to read a book in two days, following the direction keeps you up to speed in class. If the directions are not followed you could be negatively impacted as you will fall behind and your marks will suffer. The direction a teacher gives is instruction because he is telling you what to do and how to do it.

  11. Writing that instructs/directs influences me a lot throughout my day in school, at home, and in my spare time. Homework has many instructions which usually play a big role in the rest of whatever your assignment may be. Things such as cleaning products have instructions explaining how to use them, and things like clothing have instructions on how to wash them. Without instructions, we must use trial and error to understand something and complete it properly, but writing that instructs/directs eliminates this process. With some things we can’t afford to make mistakes, that’s why this form of writing is so helpful.

  12. Forms of writing that instruct and direct influence me on a daily basis, because because on almost every product we use from the time we wake up to the time we go to sleep. Instructs/directs us to do something, whether it be a pancake recipe for breakfast or a lasagna recipe for dinner. Sometime we use this for of writing without thinking about it like when we drive or use the internet. This for of writing is probably the must important of all forms. It is also very simple and precise.

  13. The forms of writing that instruct and direct influence me on a daily basis in both positive and negative ways. A positive way would be when I get lost and I use a map to direct me back onto to the right path. A negative way would have to be when we don’t obey our teachers instructions when were told not to talk in class but we do any way. We see this type of writing everyday which is why I think it influences me more than others. We can see this type of writing in instructions, blogs, manuals, posters, etc.

  14. Forms of writing that instruct and direct influences me on a daily basis. I believe that these forms are used to enforce peace and order by establishing uniformity and regularity. Through this, it will aid in the prevention of chaos and disarray. For example, a manual will help the reader in understanding the material required by illustrating steps or diagrams. Additionally, a map provides the reader with an overview of directions from one location to one’s desired destination by showing the shortest and most accessible route. Recipes can aid individuals in completing a final product the most accurate way, and given instructions can help students understand the correct way of writing a literary essay. Therefore, writing that instructs and directs is one of the most notable forms of writing, where it prevents disorder and enforces constancy in our every day lives.

  15. Forms of writing that instruct and direct, influence me on a daily basis in positive and negative ways. Some examples of writings that instruct and direct are recipes, manuals, advice columns, instructions, directions, rules, maps, and signs. I believe this type of writings influences our lives the most. We encounter it every day, whether it is at school, at home, or on the internet. Writing that instructs and directs could be positive because it could direct you into doing something that will better your life and help you become successful. For example, if you listen to your teacher’s directions on how to do an assignment and follow the given directions correctly, you will succeed. If you chose not to listen to the directions, this will have a negative impact on your life, as you will most likely fail. Writings that instructs and directs is present throughout our daily lives. It is up to us to use this form of writing to our advantage.

  16. Forms of writing that instruct/direct can influence us both positively and negatively. Depending on the order or instruction we are being given it can influence us in any direction. An advice column for example, can be either positive or negative. The columnist could be giving the reader advice to do something good or something bad. A positive encounter that I see everyday is a road sign. This sign may be telling the driver something important such as road conditions, lane changes, animal crossings, etc. These signs can influence our daily lives because if we are in a car and the drive doesn't follow the signs, would could end up in an accident. This is just one example of an essential form of writing that influences our daily lives.

  17. Forms of writing that instruct and direct influene me on a daily basis throuugh my actions and other peoples actions. I find that i see this type of writing the most when i am at school. Being directed or intructed to do something by my teacher keeps me organized and disciplined. Having this on a daily basis creates more possitive outcomes in my day as well as in my work. i can also find this form of writing when reading and understanding a map. It tells me where to go in order to reach my desinated location. i think this form of writing is very possitive and we should use it daily and not to take it for granted.

  18. Yes, i agress with Alessia the forms of writing that instruct and direct influene me on a daily basis are both positive and negative. Most of these forms of writing come from a stonger authority in my life. for example, these forms of writing appear a lot at school. being instructed and directed in school, i find is a good thing because it keeps me on yop of my school work, and helps me understand concepts much better. also, my parents are an example of this. they instruct and direct me and my siblings all the time. they help us make the right decisions and teach us to know right from wrong. i think that the bible is a form of writing that instructs and directs me in my daily life. the bible instructs and directs me to follow Gods ways, to be a good Christian, and to do whats right. that is just a small sample of where i would be able to find forms of writing that instruct and direct me in my everyday life.

  19. Instructional or explanatory pieces of writing are more common then most people realize. This morning i saw my father reading a newspaper, my mother reading a manual on how to put together a desk and I happened to be reviewing homework. Other examples that people encounter similar forms of writing is at subway stations, in offices with panphlets about organizations, phone book and even at work. My parents come across various forms at work such as memos or letters to their clients. When searching for a book, many people read book editorials. These simple forms of writing help us with everyday work and without them, simple situations like doing homework, trying to get to work by subway even though there is no sign telling you where your stops are, putting things together independantly or even being informed on daily news would be difficult.

  20. Writing that instructs and directs can influence me in a good way or a bad way. An example of how this type of writing can influence me in a positive way is when I follow instructions on how to complete my homework. These instructions would help me to better understand the subject and achieve the level that I would be satisfied with. An example of how this writing has a negative influence on me is when there are certain rules in school that I may not like. I will end up not following the rules and getting in trouble for not obeying the instructions or directions that were given to me. Some other examples of writing that informs/directs are: maps, road signs, recipes and manuals.

  21. The forms of writing that explain and direct influence me almost everyday and have a big impact on me on a daily basis. Usually it will instruct me or inform me of what I need to do for a certain task which helps me greatly. The examples of these pieces of writing that I encounter on a daily basis is instruction manuals, maps and road signs. Not only do these things impact my life greatly but are also necessary in our society today. A negative way that these forms of writing have on us is that it makes us lack the ability to think and come up with ideas on our own. This is how the forms of writing that instruct and direct influence me on a daily basis

  22. The way i feel about the forms of writing "Instruct" and "Direct" would be that I like direct writing better because it lets the reader know exactly what the reading is trying to say very directly. These forms of writing influence us in our every day life in some way because whatever we read will have these types of writings.

  24. In my opinion, writing that instructs and directs its audience is a large part of daily life in Canada. Instructional writing is very common, regardless of its lack of recognition. Directional writing directs or instructs us on a number of different topics, making its impact on daily life fairly large. Regardless of who you are chances are you encounter writing that instructs in directs quite frequently. For example, when someone buys any kind of furniture, it always comes with an instructions manual, directing its reader on how to set it up. The same applies for when someone purchases electronics, such as video games or a DVD player, which both come with manuals instructing the customer on how to set it up or how to play that particular game or insert a movie into the DVD player. Recipe books are also example of writing that informs or instructs people on how to do something, such as how to bake a cake.

  25. An example of writing that instructs would be when I would be reading a manual to replace tires on a car. The manual would tell me everything I need to use and what to take off in order to replace the tires on a car. An example of writing that directs would be a GPS. The GPS would show me how to get to my destination when I put in the place I want to go to and my current location into the GPS. Both of these types of writing influences me because it gives me the knowledge on how to complete tasks by myself or with other people.

  26. Writing that instructs and directs is the most useful type of writing. Manuals, guides, and signs are all forms of writing that instructs or directs. This type of writing is helpful because it provides you with the steps on how to complete a project or assemble an object. Signs are one of the most important aspects of driving. When you need to come to a stop, a sign will say to do so. When you are not allowed to turn on a red light, the sign will say so. Without signs, the road would be a much more dangerous place, and we would most likely not be able to drive.

  27. Writing that instructs and directs us occurs on a day to day basis, sometimes without even realizing it. From day to day, specific tasks require instruction and direction. Such an example is putting together a chair. A manual is provided to the buyer which instructs them how to assemble the pieces of the product together and create a safe, efficient item. If one does not follow the instructions provided to them, a very small mistake may have a costly ending such as someone getting injured, or even as simple as taking the entire product apart and having to reassemble it. As well, when driving to an unfamiliar place, a GPS becomes very useful. A GPS gives one directions to the destination that one is trying to reach. By not following directions given, one may become lost, and further consequences may follow. Basic instructions and directions allow us to live with fewer frustrations and hassles.

  29. In my personal opinion, writing that instructs and directs me on a day to day basis has both its positive and negative aspects. Throughout the day, we may not come to realize that we encounter instructive and directive forms of writing. Simply by waking up, our alarm clocks instruct us to awaken from our sleep. Basic instructions such as a food label instruct us how to bake our meals. Stop signs and all other traffic signs direct us in a way to show us how to drive on the road. Arriving at school, we are instructed by our teachers with rules on how to conduct ourselves in school. Simple instructions eliminate lengthy processes which cause both aggravation and frustration. Instructive and directive writing comes with a disadvantage because if we don’t follow instructions or directions, the outcome may not be as wished.
